Effects of Time

Time changes everything. Seasons, temperatures, health, society, fashions, architecture, travel, electronics, music genres, entertainment, relationships, careers, and people all change. Sometimes people feel change is scary. Sometimes change is slow, yet sometimes it is quick. Sometimes change is unexpected and leaves us questioning everything, but even when it is expected most people don’t like change. They may feel annoyed, frustrated, fearful, or even angry.

Take this past weekend as a perfect example. We even changed the time on our clocks an hour ahead to daylight saving time. As people were reminded to “spring forward” some complained of losing an hour of sleep and having darker mornings yet in a few months when we “fall back” people will complain the days will be shortened as the nighttime sky will grow dark more quickly. We get comfortable with the status quo and we seem to battle change every step of the way. We try to resist change even if we know it is for our good.

I saw a post not to long ago that stated, “Sometimes God closes doors because its time to move forward but he knows you won’t move unless your circumstances force you. Trust God. “ (I thought that was pretty good. It got me thinking. I’ve been there and know He had to change my circumstances at times because if it was up to me I would not have made any changes on my own.)

God is good! He knows exactly what is best for my life; I just have to trust Him. Reflecting on these two topics I found comfort in the fact that God is God and unlike anything else I have ever experienced, He never changes! His love is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Although my life and circumstances in my life may change, He does not. He will love me unconditionally through my days. There is nothing that I can say or do to make Him love me any more or any less. He will gaze at me the same as the day he formed me. He always offers a hedge of protection and will always have a listening ear.

As you are challenged by the changes in your life today, don’t become overwhelmed. Rest assured knowing He will give you the strength you need (He always will), and will never leave you! He is with you every step of the way.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

“For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Psalms 100:5 (NIV)

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)
