Such as I have, I give

“Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.” Psalm 37:5 NLT

Weekly you will get to know me as I offer my heart, starting with this week. Being a teacher I have learned to move from being the ‘sage on the stage’ to the ‘guide on the side’. Being that blogging is a new concept for me I instantly seemed to view it from the top down but quickly realized in this too I must be that ‘guide on the side’ to facilitate what God is doing in our lives. Remember I am no expert. In fact, I am actually just like you.

While trying to determine what to share for this next post (I had several started) I seemed to be perplexed in finding the exact words. I sat thoughtlessly at my open Bible. “God, What do you want me to write that you have not already written?” Then I clearly heard ‘commit everything to Him and He will handle it.’  This did not seem profound. I live by those words but found it rather ironic being I needed to be reminded of it. I was assured again. He will guide our walk and help us grow in our relationship with him just by leaning on Him.

Although it is easy to ask others for their prayer requests and then commit to praying, it is much harder to pray for ourselves or ask others to pray for us but I need to start today’s post by saying I covet your prayers as I embark the Each Day for Christ blog site. Please pray specifically that I am used as the vessel God would have me to be to touch your life as he speaks to me. This blog site will speak directly to me as I seek out his thoughts and words, and most often will be exactly what I need to hear for my own life but I pray you too will be blessed along the way. I am confident as long as I remove myself from the equation we will all be blown away as a result of what ends up on paper.

Many of you might be thinking I enjoy writing. WRONG! I enjoy math. I am passionate about math. Two plus two is always four. Math is consistent. Math is always right or wrong.  It is a true reflection of God and his changeless character (but that is a blog for another day.) With math, there is no gray matter where someone could judge the solution. Writing on the other hand is very subjective. It is viewed differently by different people. That scares me. I like the right and wrong because I am a perfectionist. This new endeavor of mine will be a work in progress.  I would also pray that you are patient with me as I learn how to heed Christ’s direction in this commitment. If you have suggestions, see typos, or just want to comment, please feel free. I would love to hear how these words touch you too. Share my site and watch Christ work and be glorified.

2 Corinthians 9:6-12  Living Bible (TLB)

(6) But remember this—if you give little, you will get little. A farmer who plants just a few seeds will get only a small crop, but if he plants much, he will reap much. (7) Everyone must make up his own mind as to how much he should give. Don’t force anyone to give more than he really wants to, for cheerful givers are the ones God prizes. (8) God is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more so that there will not only be enough for your own needs but plenty left over to give joyfully to others. (9) It is as the Scriptures say: “The godly man gives generously to the poor. His good deeds will be an honor to him forever.”(10) For God, who gives seed to the farmer to plant, and later on good crops to harvest and eat, will give you more and more seed to plant and will make it grow so that you can give away more and more fruit from your harvest. (11) Yes, God will give you much so that you can give away much, and when we take your gifts to those who need them they will break out into thanksgiving and praise to God for your help. (12) So two good things happen as a result of your gifts—those in need are helped, and they overflow with thanks to God.

Even though this blog site was placed on my heart, currently I am not equipped but I know that God does not call the equipped but equips the called. As Christians, we are asked to offer our time (Eph 5:16), talent (Romans 12), and treasure (Matthew 6:21). I am offering the best I have for His glory!
