Happy Birthday Jesus!

Happy Birthday Jesus! I’m so glad you’re my friend. I’m thankful I was introduced to you and now have a relationship with you. My daily perspective has changed as I now try to see all things through your eyes while asking, “where is God in this?” The more I learn about you, the more I want to know. I want to be in your presence constantly. Just like the way it is when growing a friendship with a dear friend not only do we want to be with that person, we want to know where they were born, what they have done in life, what their plans are, and even what they are doing today. We learn their character and learn how they would respond in situations. We learn their life story and often share it with others. Being and living a Christian life is not always easy but with you at my side it is easier to walk through my storms.

In contrast, in the world today so many people are lonely, depressed, tired of striving, lacking a sense a hope, searching for answers, or just simply miserable. I am praying for each of those people today. I am praying they come to know you or just get to know you more deeply. I want to share that as we acknowledge sin in our lives, acknowledge you were born and died for us, then desire to know you more (both as a new or a renewed relationship), you will come into our hearts and will live with us daily.

We try to make birthdays special for our friends but I was a little lost for ideas of how I could make it special for you today. Then I remember the Bible says it all. I just have to point others to the Word and you will take it from there. Today on your birthday I chose to share the story of your birth. This was the beginning of your life (the story of your ancestors will come in time). It’s a great starting place to introduce/reintroduce others to you. I know you will meet them where they are as they begin to seek you more deeply. Happy Birthday Jesus!!!! I pray it is the best one ever!

Joseph went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.

When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. Luke 2:4-20 NIV

Share His story with others and celebrate the birth of our Savior!

Happy Birthday Jesus!
